Her masterpiece and biggest risk was moving with her two children into a completely derelict, small 2 up 2 down Victorian gate lodge. Steeped in history, set in one of the renowned landscape gardens and which bears the family crest of Prince Leopold, son of Queen Victoria and Princess Charlotte Augusta Hanover.
Her imagination was running wild with plans of creating a Victorian courtyard regardless of the tiny living space. After long conversations with the local council in order to restore the Lodges to their former glory and creating 3 expensive restorations/extensions, the Lodge was granted its Grade ll listing by English heritage.
To her amassment finding all the history of the house quite later has been the most beautiful gift and validation of all her hard work. It is also said that Queen Victoria used the Lodge as a place to change on her way to the Palace
